THE 36 CUSTOM TEXTURES
Three chosen texture:
LIGHT: This texture use in a glass wall. Because it has a transparency I do not choose any dark and heavy texture. I want create a connection with the opposite wall which shows a vertical direction.
Medium: The concept I chose is space form ambiguous boundaries. This texture give me a kind of illusive feeling. The mainly part of the building is white. So I use the medium colour texture in this part.
Dark: I create a overpass to connect the both sides of the station. It made by glass so it looks like a little bit danger. So I choose a very dark pattern for the bottom, make it looks more stable.
THE TWO CONCEPTS
CONCEPT 1
-Space for
ambiguous boundaries（Olson Kundig）
Normal buildings always like a block box. This kind of design bound
people’s thought and mind. Olson Kundig use simple geometric shapes like squares
to create space which has no limited and also has a feeling of extension.
Inspired by this concept, I try to design a continue curvilinear space which is
half open and without obvious boundary. The curve divided the space to two part
but still have a connection.
CONCEPT 2
- Design to elude time (Carlo Scarpa)
A building can resist time not just because of the material.
The exquisite details and the connection of space of Carlo’s design show a
strong effect for other architects even in next decade. Everything will be
change along with the pass of time, but what is left always be the most
important and precious part. I design a structure with a heavy top and only one
support column. The shape like surfer the corroding from wind or water which
are slow process in nature, but the column still strong and stable.
